Another country, another adventure. I was so excited to get to see Brett and my mom on my new side of the pond. I satyed a night in Geneva on my own. The next morning I waited and waited and then finally saw two really confused people with a ton of luggage wandering around outside the hotel. It was them...
After getting settled in, we wandered around the capital of switzerland and also the capital of clocks! The old town was really beautiful and fun to explore. After the clouds cleared a bit, we took a boat tour on the lake. The mountains were hiding behind the clouds but their size and amazement shined right on through!
The next day we packed up our luggage and headed on over to Interlaken. What a place! It is in between two gorgeous lakes and surrounded by mountains. We checked into our hotel and jumped right into action. Birdman Bernie picked us up and we all went hang gliding! Most thrilling 18 minutes of my life. I felt like a bird soaring over the lake. It was a little nerve racking to run right off a cliff but sooo glad I did it. I was shaking and in shock after I landed in amazement of what I just did. We are all so glad we were brave enough to see switzerland from the best view possible.
The next day Brett and I went snowboarding in the Alps! This was a little different than snowboarding back home. We were over 7,600 feet high. We would snowboard down one mountain and then would take a chairlift right up another. It was snowing the whole day, I think we even went through a cloud. It was a good 30 min slow, steep train ride up to the mountain... it seemed like we were going straight up. I felt as if I was on the polar express. It was a little cloudy but it was amazing to see the mountains surrounding us everywhere. Nature is neat!
Needless to say, I am a little sore from our extreme sporting in Switzerland. We did however end each day with some traditional swiss food. The Swiss macaroni and chocolate fondue were my favorites. Chocolate is truly better in Switzerland. Brett even played the traditional swiss longhorn one night. He was pretty good.
So we then spent most of the day on a train heading to Austria. We are off for an adventure tomorrow in the Salt mines and enjoying a tour of where the sound of music took place. Updates to come! Happy Easter Everyone : )
