1 sleep to go! - then LA, Vegas, LA - here I come!
It was a spontaneous decision, this decision to randomly flee Australia to Vegas and spin around a pole at the expo, but in my mind a sound one. (& no..., I am not taking my 3 year old with me, ..... she might upstage me! ) Le sigh,.. I already miss her ridiculously, which will be the biggest challenge for me about this trip. I have never been away from her for so long.
The Pole Expo is one of the biggest and I've heard one of the greatest pole-art/sport/dancer/etc gatherings in the whole world. I feel very lucky to be going and have sacrificed a lot to be able to go.
- Excerpting from the website itself now, ( poleexpo.com ) ,
"The Pole Expo welcomes attendees from all over the world. Together we dance with 41 countries including Canada, USA, Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, England, France, Italy, Norway, Poland, Spain, Belgium, Austria, Russia, South Africa, Guam, Philippines, Japan and Australia just to name a few!"
How VERY exciting is this? ,... (well, maybe not for non-pole-plebs as much I guess.......)
My journey all started with a facebook message from a pole-buddy. She told me that there was a wonderful deal that was on offer to go to the Vegas Pole Convention and stay at the hard-rock hotel at a heavily discounted cost. Of course I was skeptical about making a decision so quickly, but after some heavy negotiating regarding babysitting, I decided to go for it and deposited the required money to secure the "great deal" on offer.
So after months of working through preperations to get there, here I am on the day before I leave. Excited, yes. Nervous, yes. Missing Tilly already? - YES!
Expo and workshop tickets purchased?, check. Live TV filming tickets sorted? , check...... Bags overpacked becasue I suffer from the "what if's" ? , checked. Case of the 'what if's' has begun?. Check.
(* The "What if"s is partly an anxious thing where I fear things going wrong... ie; "What if I forget this" , "What if I am over there and really need this" , "What if I don't want to wear that, but only wear that" - "What if I eat so much I don't fit in to that, so can only wear that" ..& so on, ..)
So the last things to do now are to purchase a couple of last things to keep my "what if's " happy, & then work on convincing myself to unpack some things for more room..."what if I don't have enough room in my case to bring back things?".......
9pm - Time has passed..... and my travel buddy Aimee has now arrived in my near-the-airport-town, coupla bubblies to celebrate and then we catch an early flight tomorrow, and then it all begins. AAAHhhhh!
Bon Voyage in 12hours time - hurrah!
