What a killer day.
Breaky first, fruit salad and toast and mud coffee, then off in the boat with Onki and Insen who are old friends of Cams. Its a beautiful calm day on Hu'u Bay and we are surrounded by bright green rainforested hills. Only 10 mins out across the bay, I'm talking to Onki and the middle rod goes off, drag screaming. Insen says here! Take this and hands me the bent over rod. I look at the reel and it's exactly the same as my diawa at home. Coolas. The fish runs a bit but 5 mins later a metre long barracuda appears and Insen hoists him in on the trace. Smiles and cheers all round.
After another half an hour we reach the other side of the bay, Magic Point. Big cliffs dropping into the super clear water. You can see the reef ten meters down. Surf looks small but the Hunt crew charge it, and as they paddle closer it seems there's a 3 foot set or two coming thru. I wait a while and try to rake vids of the guys. ( didn't work b*****). Waves get better and better and soon I can't wait any more. They're all getting some superfast little rights, glassy clean. Banjo and Ryan the standouts.
Spent about the next two hours surfing with max 7 people on the nicest little coral pointbreak you could want until finally the wind comes up and shuts things down.
Back to lakey with a relaxing rolly trip home and gado gado and bintang for lunch and I'm writing this lying on my bed with abc on the Telly and the aircon on. Dinner of barracuda tonight at a restaurant up the road. Yum
Later
A few beers with Onqy and a Newy bloke called Greg Berber. Apparently Not a friend of cams but lives a beer and a chat so.......
