Hey everybody, we just got done with our first port - Cadiz, Spain. It's the oldest city in Europe! It's filled with narrow streets, old architecture and awesome beaches. I, Kevin, went to a big winery on Wednesday, the 24th, for a field project for one of my classes. It was awesome, drank some great wine and learned a lot about Spanish producers of vino (span. for wine). While I was at the winery, Andria was hanging out with her friends on the beach of Cadiz. After that, we all travelled to Sevilla, Spain. It was a two-hour train ride but totally worth it. That place is beautiful! The third largest cathedral in the world stands in Sevilla and we couldn't see how it could get any bigger. The moment we walked through the doors it took our breathe away.We got Sevilla just fine but getting to our hostel was a little crazy because the directions sucked. We spent about 2 hours walking around finding this place (including asking locals to point us in the right directions but they each took us to a different part of the city) but when we did, we just put our stuff down and went out for some awesome Spanish food and cervezas (beer). Well I drank beer and Andria drank Sangria, which is a very sweet Spanish Cocktail. After we ate, we went to a traditional flamenco show late that night. After a great day and night of seeing the city, we passed out. The next day, we checked out all the great monuments of Sevilla including the Plaza de Espana in which some old lady thought a fountain was her personal shower…. Yes, she was naked in the fountain. While wandering around, Andria ran into her good friend Kayla from high school! It was like having a little piece of home for a few minutes for Andria. She thoroughly enjoyed catching up with Kayla and was sad to say bye. Finally, we headed back to Cadiz. After a long night of sleep 8 hours + a 3 hour Siesta after breakfast), we spent the day at the beach in Cadiz and hit up the small boutiques in the older part of town, which was awesome. Now that we're back and settled, we have to study for our first test in Global Studies, but these last few days have been awesome in Spain. Stay tuned for Italy coming up next! Ciao.
Andria and Kev.
