We headed off to Mareeba with plans to visit the Air Museum and the famous Coffeeworks as this is the home of the coffee beans.
Unfortunately when we got to the museum is not only closed but shutdown, but we still managed to have a look around the old planes out the front that were literally decaying without any care, such a shame but the old TAA stairs was a novelty having not seen that signage for a while.
Our next stop would be the Coffeeand Chocolate works and the smell of coffee beans was intoxicating, this is a fantastic place where you can try at your leisure as many different kinds of coffees, teas and some amazing flavours of milk, white and dark chocolates in some very interesting combinations. The coffee and tea museum is very innovative with your own audio system to learn more about the history of coffee brewing and filtering systems, they also had period rooms which came to life when you walked in, it was a great visual demonstration and had items in there that were one of kinds, it was a credit to them.
The shop was colourful with some really cool stuff and a great mornings entertainment - no lunch today full up on the coffee and chocolates YUMMY.
Kuranda would be our final stopover and coming into the town the only caravan park is set in the midst of the forest and a very pretty place. Kuranda is well known for its markets which run everyday, it also had a Koala, Bird and Butterfly sanctuaries, sadly however it seems that many stalls were struggling and shut down. We checked out the old train and its rolling stock carriages, the train runs from Cairns to Kuranda daily and was full of Asian tourists when it was departing the platform.
I am looking forward to catching up with Kalgoorlie days friends Tracy and Graema tomorrow.
