We drove to a tiny village near Mont St Michel today and stayed in a cottage that we found on AirBNB. The cottage was very quaint, owned by a Welsh couple and their dog, Millie.
As soon as we unpacked we jumped in Bessy and headed off the Mont St Michel, a life long dream of Lidia's and Alex's.
We turned a corner on a tiny country road and there was Mont St Michel against the horizon. I said to Lidia, "Check that out". Mont St Michell loomed over the horizon like a monolith and took our breath away. It really is impressive.
We made it out to the abbey and took a few photos, then took the bus back to the touristy town nearby where we had the crappest meal imaginable. Dirty underwear with a side order of goat crap probably would have tasted better.
Anyway, we didn't let that get us down. We headed back to Chez Millie and ate caramels before bed.
The next morning, Dianne, the host cooked us a very French breakfast cooked by an old Welsh woman. It wasn't too bad though, even though the extent of the breakfast cereal choice was Choco Hoops, Choco Shells, Choco Puffs and Choco Moons.
We took the cheese, tomato and bread and made sandwiches for lunch so as to avoid the touristy restaurants at Mont St Michel and spent the day at the abbey. It was fantastic.
