On the 29th, we visited the Acropolis in what was a whirlwind day. The kids really enjoyed the rocks at the Acropolis and created their "own" home up there. The views were amazing and needless to say, the Parthenon and architecture is almost beyond description. If I remember correctly, most of the buildings are from or were starting to built in BC.
After the Acropolis, we jetted to the Metro station, took a train to the port of Pireaus (20 minutes) and then boarded a superfast passenger boat called the "Flying Cat 1." That boat took us to the Island of Hydra.
We made a friend the last time we went to Hydra. Angela, who owns the Sophia Hotel, treated us like family. The kids loved the feel of the town - no cars, just donkeys and mules (do you know the difference?).
Ok, here is Gianna writing -- when we were in Hydra, we took a walk to the the sandy beaches. even though it was 75 degrees out, my dad, me, ally, and luke went swimming. the friend we made was a black small girl mutt. she followed us on the whole walk. she was a stray so my sister, ally, named her beatrice. beatrice was super nice and letted us pet her aton. i was really sad when i had to leave her but i said goodbye when i took a really fun donkey ride before we boarded the "flying Doliphin" a superfast passenger boat.

Joanna Wow, sounds like a great day. Glad you were nice to Beatrice - she must have known you guys would treat her kindly. Can't wait to hear more about your adventures!
Grampa H. We found your beautiful little island of Hydra, but it took a while because of the H getting in the way of its spelling. It looks fantastic without cars.....shimmerilng water....red roofs and white walls.
Pat Wish we were there with you!!! Seattle is STILL chilly and rainy!
Shelley So happy that we can follow your adventure and that the weather is so accommodating. We're of to Vegas Sat. a.m. in search of such weather but will bring the lap-top so we know of your where-abouts. Enjoy all!!
