Hello everyone,
Here's our first update of what we've been upto.
Bangkok
We arrived in Bangkok on the tuesday afternoon and it was in the middle of a tropical storm, and then proceeded to get properly lost in what looked like a pretty dodgy local area, but found a maccy's in the middle of it all i was dissapointed with us but i was hungry and it had air con. We eventually found ourselves on a map and worked out where to go but got in a tuk tuk cause was sick of walking in 33 degree heat.
Our second day we went to ko san road after sleeping off the jet lag til about 1.30, it is a bit of a backpackers place and watched some bands and had a few beers was a pretty good day. On our third day we got turned away from the temples because jennie was dressed too provocativley and after going round in circles all day getting no where we decided it was time to leave. We then spent about 3 hours trying to book a train ticket out of there which is very hard work, and ended up on a 2 day tour around central thailand.
Kanchanabri and Hua Hin
We were picked up from our hotel about 6am to set off out of Bangkok, the first stop was a "traditional" floating market, which was 100 stalls all selling the same crap how many hats and bags of spices do i want to buy!!!, but it got a lot better after that and we walked over the Bridge over the River Khwae, which oddly is still open so we had to scarper when a train was coming. The bridge is next to a museum of world war stuff explaining how over 100,000 people died building the railway which sounds depressing but was quite interesting, Jennie also played with a Leapord cub out side the museum and we saw the biggest lizard ever. WE then went to a Tiger temple which was supposed to be tigers that have been trained by monks roaming around and you being able to go and stroke them, the reality was they were all chained up and there was only one monk sat drinking milkshake listening to an ipod and there was some american fellas taking pictures of you, it was really good getting so close to the tigers and we got some awsome pictures. Then it started pouring down and our maniac bus driver kept doing U turns on the motorway, he then dropped us at our floating house for the night, the room was very basic and all the electric went off for about 3 hours but we had a load of beers then lost an argument with our mozzie net was a good night tho.
Day 2 we went elephant trekking which was good but pretty scary when we're getting taken down massive drops and nearly falling off the thing, I then got to sit on the elephants head which is supposedly more stable, it wasn't and it didn't half hurt my ass, we then went on a raft down the river which was quite chilled out, but we thought it was like a white water thing so a bit dissapointing. we were dropped off at the train staion before hitting hua hin, which was a beach resort about 100 miles south of Bangkok we just sat on the beach for 2 days and had an english breakfast in an Irish pub. we got a rollercoaster of a train overnight to a place called Chumpon and the boat over to Koh Tao.
Koh Tao
In Koh Tao we are staying in a beach hut, which is basicly a bed a toilet and a cold shower with plenty of mozzies, but for 4 quid each we cant complain. Spent the first 3 days just chilling on the beach and watching sunsets, went on a snorkeling tour yesterday which was really good although the sun finally caught up with us so today is a day indoors catching up on this and then watching the football tonight with some beers.
Next stop Koh Phangan then Koh Samui will try get some pictures on next week.
Bye for now
Jennie and Neil xx
