Wat Mahathat
Columns of the main assembly hall of which the base and several rows of pillars remain. The hall enclosed a bronze seated image of the Buddha in the “calling the Earth to witness” position (different than the Buddha shown in the picture). The hall was built in 1362. During the reign of King Rama I in the late 18th century the 5 ton Buddha was moved to anther Wat in Bangkok. During the move, it was damaged, exposing the gold plating under the plaster.
