Hello again,
Well after a nice few days relaxing in Cusco (massages, DVD bars, pub quiz and lots of Black Russians) We boarded the truck for Puno. The journey was another gruelling 8+ hours, but this was eased by the sightings of flamingos and the consumption of Snickers bars. Puno is nothing spectacular, but there are lots of nice bars and restaurants, so more Black Russians to be had this evening we reckon.
We used Puno as a base to take a tour to the Island of Amanti, which is where we stayed with a local family. Dean and I stayed with a lady who had three young boys. the children seemed completely unimpressed by us at first, but we soon won them over with a pack of cards, teaching them Memory and Snap. In the evening our hostess dressed us up in the local attire - a poncho and hat for Dean and a blouse, shawl and a million layers of skirts for me. Then we were taken to the local fiesta where you are forced to dance with the locals - it was really quite fast paced dancing and particularly difficult at such high altitude with a million layers of skirts.
Anyway, tonight is our last night in Puno, before we head off to La Paz, Bolivia in the morning.
Well, speak soon,
Claire
ps back on Saturday (Though probably only in body, expecting to feel quite rough after another 24 trip) xxx
