Geoff met Amanda, Anne and I the next day for Brekkie (that's Australian slang for breakfast). Aussies are all pretty obsessed with their breakfast, in case you missed that from the earlier blog entry. Geoff told us the entire history of Fraser Island before walking us down to the colorfully sandy beach that gives Rainbow Beach its name. Talk about going above and beyond on his tour guide duties! I'm pretty sure we made a lifelong friend.
We snagged our new friend and tent-mate, Amanda, and headed towards our next stop, Noosa. Amanda secured a job with a hostel there for the next two months. She said that she chose Noosa out of all the places she had visited because of the laid back vibe and small town atmosphere, so Anne and I were obviously excited to see what it had in store for us! We arrived mid-afternoon so Anne and I quickly threw on our workout clothes and set off to conquer another hiking track. We are in the process of developing a new sport, hike jogging. Its exactly like regular jogging, except the terrain is more challenging, you have to navigate regular hikers, and figure out ways to secure your camera(s). The best part is that your rest periods are spent gazing out over some of the most beautiful scenery in the world!
After we completed the 2.5 hour hike in 1.5 hours, we headed back to get ready for a fun filled night with Amanda before we parted ways with her the next day. When we went across the street from our apartment for a drink, we bumped into our friends Tom, Ryan, and Dennis, whom we had met early on in our trip. Its incredible how many people that we have seen in multiple spots…its like everyone is sort of traveling down the coast together! The six of us went back to our apartment to hang out until around midnight when the fire alarm went off and all the residents of the hotel had to go out to the street and wait for it to be turned off. We ended the night with a relaxing champagne bubble bath.
Anne and I agree that Noosa is definitely a spot that deserves more time than what we were able to allow for it. This dynamic duo won't stop until the final buzzer has sounded!
