Blog 27 Coffs Harbour - Manly
The spinning class was good, but heavy… Luckily I wasn't in pain the next day. I know I was planning on leaving that day, but that did not really happen.. The surf was still rubbish, so we didn't go in… As we got back at the museum, the weather was still grey and I didn't have the drive to pack up and leave, so I decided to stay one more night. That afternoon I did my laundry and in the evening I saw the movie Stepbrothers: really funny. The next morning I (finally ;-) left after saying goodbye to Kamla and Scott… Hopefully I'll see Kamla again on Hawaii!!
That Thursday I left very early in the morning, heading for Cresent Head, where I had a surf. The mission for that day was to find some reef booties for in Bali… In didn't end up buying booties, but I did end up buying a new love in North Haven: a 6'6 Webber semi-gun rounded pin: an awesome board! The next day I went to Seal Rocks and I did go for a surf, but the waves weren't that good L. I did quite a drive that day: stayed the night in Newcastle. I arrived late afternoon, but I didn't feel like going in for a surf after seeing hypes of people coming out with 2 pieces of board… the waves were quite heavy (and it was cold!!).
Saturday I decided to drive to palm beach and then back to Manly, but I ended up not going to Palm Beach because it was a memorial day and there was way to much traffic everywhere.
It was great to arrive in Manly… I've even shed a tear, knowing I had to leave a couple of days later… I went to the hostel: the bunkhouse. Junior was still there and he let me have a shower and all. I passed by the surf shop where my friend Gary was working and we decided to go for a surf together soon! He was the first person I met in Manly and we tried to meet up for a surf a couple of times, but in the end… it didn't work out.
In the evening I went to see Adriano, a guy I've met at yoga. We had dinner together and he offered me a place to stay the next couple of days. He was going on a business trip and his studio would be empty… lucky me J That night I stayed at the hostel and the next day (Sunday) I chilled outon the beach with Junior, went for a surf, picked up my stuff at Sonia's and try to organized it again.. I arrived at Adriano's around 7pm and we spend the evening together. He had to leave early in the morning and me as well, because I had to send some luggage home andhad to drive my car back to the rental company in Paramatta. Adriano was so kind to print the map and the directions, otherwise I would never have found it… It was a 40 km drive, but I did all right. Had to catch a train back to Sydney and then the Ferry back to Manly. I had to go to the shop where I bought my camera in Sydney, since the camera broke down and I needed a written statement for my insurance that it could not be fixed. That cost me 36 dollars (45 actually, but he gave me a discount J) and I had to wait for 1,5 hrs. Back in Manly in the late afternoon and I went for a surf with Alex. The surf was really good!! Best surf I've ever had in Manly! I had some kind of dinner (tosti) in the hostel and chilled out there the rest of the evening.
Tuesday morning I wanted to go for an early morning surf, but it ended up being a late morning surf… a good surf though!
I passed by Jellyfish, my old job, got a coffee J and went for another surf in the late afternoon… Manly was going off! I dropped my board and wetsuit at the surf shop, because Gary and I were going to go for an early morning surf the next day. That evening I spend hypes of time on the internet planning my next trip… I'll be going to India and Nepal (with my mum this time) in January/ February next year... doing yoga and some sight seeing..
Went to bed way too late and had to get up way to early, but it was worth it, cause Gary and I had a great surf. Passed by Jellyfish again for a coffee and back home, cause I really needed to reorganize my stuff for Bali.. I did go for another surf in the afternoon and the guys from the hostel were in the water as well.
Another night on the internet and I made some tiramisu for Adriano to thank him for staying. I did go to bed too late again, waking up too early for another early morning surf with Gary. Chilled out at the hostel afterwards, went to see Nicole at Jellyfish, went home to do my laundry, went for another surf with the guys from the hostel and went for a drink later that evening.
Back 'home' Adriano just arrived and we had some pasta and the tiramisu together.
The next day I went to the hostel, where I left my backpack with my sleeping bag, jeans,, jumper, etc… didn't needthat in Bali!
Then I took the ferry to Sydney, the train to the airport…
Little problem checking in… I was only allowed to take 20 kg of luggage with me… my board bag:11,5 kg, other bag and guitar: 13,5 kg… So I had to either pay 20 dollard a kg or leave stuff behind.. I took my towel, sunscreen and yoga mat out and I was willing to leave my guitar there. Then I had to bring my board bag to the 'oversized luggage' area.. so I put everything in the board bag and strapped my guitar on it as well… I know, that's cheating, but luckily those extra 4 kilo's didn't make the plane crash J
7 hours later I arrived in Bali…..
