WOW! What a day!!!
We travelled up to Glenorchy by bus (we only had to stop once for a Lord to throw up - Hazel on this occasion!!)
Then we climbed into wetsuits and life jackets to board a jet boat. We travelled up stream fir an hour at speeds of up to 90kph with some 360 degree spins thrown in and a few camera / info stops too.
Then we pumped up our inflatable kayaks and started paddling downstream. Our guides were lovely & Tom took Us under his wing and we clipped our boats together. Adam and Hazel paddled hard - but even so the boats need 2 adults (and at least one of them needs to have a clue!)
We stopped & had a buffet lunch by the side of the river and unfortunately the heavens opened. The whole journey downriver was shrouded in mist and rain, but it didn't spoil the adventure in the slightest!
We even saw a couple of places used in the Lord of the Rings - Hobbiton and Isengard. Adam & I were both impressed!
We have returned to the motel and ordered delivery pizza. The lazy way to end such a busy and exciting day!!
