Sas and Fiona's Travels
So we have arrived in SYDNEY!! But we were very very sad to leave New Zealand as we had such a great last 2 weeks! We had a great last few days in Wanaka. We had another great night out with some of Lyn and Kim's friends. We ended up in the middle of the night on the hydroslide!! It was hysterical! It is a pipe that runs from a river to the lake under the road, and it smells a bit like sewage! But it was so so so much fun. Even though we have only just recovered from the bruises! Was such a brilliant night. We also had some great days just lying in the sun by the lake. It was pretty tough! We were spoilt rotten by Lyn and just had a wonderful time.
Then we headed onto Queenstown where we ended up staying for a week. We were very very lucky(as usual) and parked in the driveway of one of Jono Bristeds friends(Pete) house. Pete and his housemates were so nice and they looked after us so so well! Every morning we went for a swim in the lake which was a 30 second walk from their house but it was so so cold! We had some brilliant nights out AND we had 3 fergburgers!! We had been told A LOT about fergburgers but they definitely definitely lived up to expectation. They were amazing! The most delicious burgers ever. We were also very proud of ourselves for walking all the way up to the top of the gondola! It was definitely worth the long hike for the spectacular view at the top. BUT, the highlight of Queenstown was definitely the BUNGY!! It was absolutely amazing! We were both petrified but we managed to do it so thats all that matters. Once you have jumped it is the best thing it was just getting ourselves to jump. But afterwards we both wanted to do it again and again cos it was just so so so so so amazing. We also bumped into these 2 girls who we had met in Rotorua and Taupo so we spent a lot of time with them and went out with them. Hopefully we will see them here in Sydney as well. Queenstown was absolutely amazing and lived up to everything that people had been saying about it!
After finally managing to leave Queenstown we drove to Christchurch. The drive was so so beautiful, we saw so much. Sometimes you feel like you are driving through desert and then you see Mt Cook and the bright bright blue lakes. It was spectacular and such an amazing drive. When we got to Christchurch we spent our first night with one of Fiona's teachers from prep school. We had a lovely evening in Lyttelton with fish and chips and we wandered around the town a bit. It was so sad to see how much of it had been pulled down or had fallen down. We were looked after brilliantly by Nat, Julia and their really cute son Noah. We then went to stay with some of the Breddys friends who lived in cashmere. They were so so nice and they had the most amazing house and spoilt us rotten. They gave us a tour of some of christchurch, including christs college. That was our first night in 7 weeks where we didnt sleep in the same room and it was the weirdest thing ever!! we both left our doors open!! The next day we also had a look in the centre of christchurch at the restart mall that has been set up. It is a mall where all the shops are containers. It is so cool, all the containers are brightly coloured, it has been done really really well. Our last 2 nights in christchurch we spent with flick holmes and her son max. We had so much fun with them, had a last little jaunt in bruce(the campervan) where 8 of us were in there!! and we went out for burmese which was just delicious. we were so so so sad to leave new zealand but we are so excited to be in sydney and have been looked after so well by the browns!! Hope you are all well and lots and lots of love xxxxxxxxxx p.s. LUCKILY we managed to get out of paying our 200 dollar fine!!
