Well last night in the Ecole Volunteer house was a hot one! I woke up early because of the heat and trucked it down to the town to search for an open market for food this week before Ecuador played today. I miscalculated the time of the Ecuador game which was at 10:00 am not 12. People were already drinking and work...forget about it! So therefore, no store was open selling food. I instead hung out at the local ice cream shop/cafe where I get my wifi service, had a coffee and watched the game. The guy next to me said I could only sit if I was rooting for
Ecuador and I said..... SWISS ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!
Just kidding.
Sad day for Ecuador to lose. But, I was in Ecuador watching Ecuador play football. Did I say that? Too cool. So then... I walked around for awhile, a long while, and had lunch at a local place called Patagonia restaurant and cafe. Only $4.00 for a cheeseburger and was pretty good! I met an Italian couple who just finished up an 8 day boat tour going to different islands and they told me about a guide they were using today to tour around San Cristobal. They invited me with them but I gracefully declined. So, I hiked it back to the house to inquire about when I would be leaving tomorrow for the hacienda. Of course they had no idea. Great!! I asked the owner if she knew of a market open and they sent me to one that wasn't even open today. Great, again. Luckily they called me a cab instead of me walking. These feet were tired and you can literally get anywhere around here for $1.00. So awesome. He ended up dropping me off at this sketchy small market that smelled terrible since the one "bigger one" was closed. My nose told me not to purchase any meat goods. Pasta and gluten galore for me! Yesssss!!!
It was too hard trying to finds taxi on the street because again, no one was really working today. I had a huge 5 gallon water and groceries. I took breaks in order to take photos and rest my tired arms. The pier literally has sooooo many sea lions and they don't move if you come close to them. So snip snap, I was a little trigger happy.
Playa Mann is right next to my house
so I checked that out for the soon to be setting sunset since according to Lonely planet, it's one of the best sunsets in the world. You can judge by the pictures but it's def in my top 5
I've seen. Cali, you had me at Uno. I sat right in between 15 sea lions on my left and maybe 20-25 on my right. Can you say you've ever done that?? And they are soooooo funny to watch too!
I went back to town after taking a zillionnnnn photos and hit up the ice cream/cafe place to call my pops and wish him a happy father's day. They change the wifi password twice per day and you have to at least purchase $3.00 worth of merchandise to get the code. Coffee in the morning and cerveza at night. Pull my arm a little....and done!
While there, I randomly met these two girls that will be working at the Hacienda I will start with tmw. Well not totally random, I kinda ease dropped and THEN Butt in their conversation. Turns out one is from NJ and other from CT. They gave me the lowdown about the Hacienda and said they come into town pretty much every night. They also invited me to Santa Cruise (another island) on Friday if I would like. Maybe I will, but still want to Check into the overnight boat tours as the ferries here can be very choppy this time of year and I get very seasick. Either way, this town is too sleepy for me and I want to explore more. When in Galápagos!
