We set off a little later than we should but headed with our student translator to the small dock. We boarded a boat and set off to see the floating Market, it was a fair journey and a little chilly on the open waters. We had to get petrol on route pulling up on the water is an experience I haven't had before. As is the norm the boat stopped on route at a local place to get tourist money! There was some nice art pieces originals that i love too, but it would require lugging it about, did not like it that much! Also more sweet making to be seen before we set sail again. We reached the floating Market, certainly not as I expected! Was more of a wholesale, local businesses buying off of the large boats. After exploring this we headed onto the canals around the islands, seeing all the locals going about there daily tasks by boat.
Next stop was a little island with a traditional wooden ancient house, Sau Giao is set with a amazing garden of bonsai trees and a orchid orchard out back. We enjoyed the setting with some local fruits and Jasmine tea before we headed off to our home stay location. Seems there was some problem at the location the driver took us too, unfortunately the students English we had noted lacked a fair amount of understanding! Yet again we hit the boats to be taken to another area, we arrived at more of a hostel location which was nice enough rooms were quaint wooden hut on stilts, mosquito nets a must in the wilderness! After arriving we got some bikes to investigate the area a bit, very friendly people again we didn't go far as we all wanted to head out in the morning, so we settled down for a cold beer before dinner. Whilst chillin some large woven bags were carried in, alot of clucking coming from them, heading for the kitchen but seems they decided to leave them in the bags and line them up for the night. The evening meal was the best yet! Lovely bit of fish to make, rolls with the rice paper and veg. If that wasn't enough they then bought some beef and rice followed with melon! After dinner we tested out the hammocks played some cards and hit the hay early after such an early start!.
Not the best nights sleep alot of strange noises! And at first light the cockerels started off. I was first up and having breakfast with the cockerels going off even the ones still sitting in the bags near me were taking part slightly muffled! After all were up we set off on the bikes for a ride for a few hours. After the ride we headed off back to main land for one more night, tomorrow we head on again too Rach Gia.
