Today is a national holiday in Austria, it marks their independence from the Soviet reign in 1955 and to celebrate there was a big festival for the military. In the gardens outside the Imperial Palace the army had helicopters, a fighter jet, combat trucks, medical trucks and assorted weaponry on display. It was all completely free and you were close enough to touch and in some cases get into the vehicles. Inside the army tents you could handle all sorts of weapon...

This morning we left our apartment at 8am and said goodbye to Csaba who walked us halfway to the station. We went to Deli (Southern) Railway Station only to find out that we needed to be at Keleti (Eastern) Railway Station, seven stops away in the direction we'd just come from. After a pitstop for coffee and pastries we headed across the White bridge (Erzsébet bridge) and past Döbrentei square in the direction of the fortress on top of the hill, from this vantage point you can see the whole city spread out before you.
