The train still operates - it's motorised and runs on wheels (seen in background), though previously it had wooden wheels and was pushed by bamboo poles. When an oncoming 'real' train approaches they take it apart and move it off the tracks. It's technically illegal, as well, though it's in every guidebook about Cambodia and one of the major tourist attractions of the region (I neglected to take a one hour ride for $10!)
