We have safely arrived in Melbourne; it was such a shock driving into the city to see so many people and cars as we hardly saw any driving from Adelaide. We said goodbye to our valiant Bruce and headed into our new home for a few days. The hostel we are staying gin is AMAZING, it is so clean, loads of activities, free food and we even got an upgrade from a twelve dorm to a two person door. So let's just say we are very happy here. After our long days of driving we took it easy the first night and got to know a few people in the hostel.
The next day we got up relatively early and visited the tourist info place. This time we spoke to someone Scottish, again someone from the UK (sure I have met more people from the UK here than actual Aussies). After some good advice we hopped onto the free tourist bus which showed us all the attractions Melbourne has to offer. To name a few attractions we visited included the Queen Victorian Market which was HUGE and sold whatever you needed, the botanical gardens, Chinatown, waterfront and Melbourne's Cricket Ground (MCG) which can hold a crazy amount of people-100,000!!Stu was very happy to visit the ground so that is two cricket grounds down; we will have to make sure we go to the others around the country. In the afternoon we did a few odd jobs like setting up bank accounts etc then headed back to the hostel for a FREE BBQ which was goooood. The city was jam packed, trying to get back to our hostel took forever as Opera was in town, there was even an Opera tram made in her honour haha the city was packed!! After the BBQ I spent the whole evening with and upset tummy and didn't recover very well the next day either K so we had to reorganise our neighbours tour for Sunday instead.I was feeling very sorry for myself but I did get looked after and even got bought some Fiji pure water.Awwwwwwwww.
So today we woke up all excited to go visit the one and only Ramsey Street........ok ok maybe not we probably I.We got onto our very obvious Neighbours tour bus and headed to Erinsborough High, Ramsey Street, Lassiters complex, Charlie's, Grease Monkeys, the garage, the famous bus stop where Izzy caught the Grey Hound and ended up in England and of course Harold's General store!!!! I was very snap happy taking photos everywhere (I have uploaded a few photos but the internet isn't great so here are a lot more to follow). We even got to meet Janelle Timmins (string-rays mum) who used to be on the show-she lived in the Scullys house when she was in the show.We are off tonight try some of Melbourne's yummy food before an early night as we are moving onto St Kilda tomorrow and have to be out of our hostel stupidly early.
Toodle pip for now x x
p.s. the weather still isn't great it has rained EVERY day now grrrr and we are once again in our jeans and proper shoes, no flip flops anymore L
p.p.s Mum you will be happy they Starbucks....only 1 though!
