Visited the capital of the U.S.A., Washington D.C.. We spent ages trying to find the Whitehouse, even though we thought it would be so obvious! It was obvious when we eventually found it but the ranger said everywhere was closed off for security reasons - the president was due to be arriving back at the Whitehouse. Every helicopter that flew over us we thought had the president in, but still the security didn't move. We decided to have a walk around as it may have been hours until we could get closer. Just as we do, within seconds, the police stop all traffic and pedestrians in the street, sirens are going and a huge fleet of black vans start heading our way. We can't believe what is happening - the President of the USA is heading towards us! We have never been so excited to see ten snipers aiming right at us. The third car passes us and we suddenly see the president waving at us. Unbelievable!! We may have joked about going to Washington to visit the president but we never actually believed we would see him with our own eyes! He even takes his own ambulance with him! After he enters the Whitehouse we finally get a good view of his home looking a lot different than we thought being surrounded by snow. We later visited the Lincoln, Jefferson, WWII, Roosevelt and Iwo Jawa memorials, the US Capitol and all the other government buildings on our exploration of the capital.
