After a quick nap and sometime tanning by our pool (utter luxury!) we went off to explore Siem Reap. This is by far the most touristy spot we have hit, western restaurants, bars and tourists everywhere. We met up Jenny and Susan from our Ha Long bay tour for a few drinks and hear their travel stories!
We were up the following morning before the crack of dawn (about 4:30 am) in order to get to Angkor Wat for sunrise. We were very tempted not to bother and just go at a reasonable hour, but we persevered and it was worth. When we arrive it was pitch black but the grounds were already packed with people waiting for the sunrise, when the sun finally passed behind the temple made the early start worth it. After wandering around Angkor Wat for a while then moved on to teh Bayon Temple, Ta Prohm (use in tomb raider), Preah Khan, Ta Keo and terrace of the Elephants. After our full day sightseeing it was only 11 am, we planned to spend the afternoon sunbathing but a storm blew in. So instead we booked ourselves into a local cooking class where we learnt how to make spring rolls and a local dish (got to wear some stunning hats and aprons which made us feel the part!).
