Buenos dias, I hope you are all well? I'm currently in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina.
Since my last post I left Mendoza for Bariloche, which was a 20 hour bus journey. The buses in Argentina are luxury buses, they have different classes of seating, which determine how much your seat tilts back. The bus I had, had big leather seats that tilted loads, and I was also served a massive dinner, offered wine, and was entertained by a few films on the tv screens. To top it off we played bingo near the end of the trip but I didn't win the bottle of wine....
Bariloche is a beautiful place. It's in the lake district, as it contains a lot of lakes! My hostel was really cool. It was almost like a chalet you would find in a ski resort. I really enjoyed my stay, which was a week, as it was a small place so I got to talk to most people, the living room was really comfortable and looked out on to the main lake, and also the staff were super friendly.
During my stay I did a couple of treks up hills that provided me with a panoramic view of the lakes and mountains. The views were stunning and well worth the walking. I also did a bike ride round a 27km circuit of winding, hilly roads. The up hills usually required walking with the bike but the down hills were great and made up for it! I also hired a car with some friends I made at the hostel and drove to San Martin and through the 7 lakes. It's strange driving on the right side, in a left hand drive, but I soon got used to it. Some of the roads were an experience, especially in the dark, but we got back in one piece.
Bariloche has a ridiculous amount of chocolate shops. If I was returning home soon I would have stocked up for gifts, but anyone who loves chocolate should definitely pay a visit here. The buildings are really cool here. They are like Swiss chalets, with lots of wood and huge windows.
After Bariloche, I caught a 20 hour bus to Buenos Aires, this wasn't as nice as my last bus trip but it was still good. No bingo this time though, gutted! Once I arrived in BA I immediately got a bus to Rosario, which is 4 hours away, north west.
I don't know if I was tired or what, but when the bus got to Rosario I for some reason got off on a road when the bus stopped to let off a few people. I realised straight away it was a mistake but it was too late. I should have waited until it went to the terminal. After walking pass some sketchy areas, including what I think were gypsies asking for money, I realised I was miles away from where I needed to be. I couldn't help but laugh that after 8 months of travelling I was still doing stupid stuff like this. Thankfully I found a taxi and got driven to my hostel. Good job too, as I was miles away!
Rosario is where Che Guevarra was born. He's the guy who's face is on all those t-shirts, but he was actually a revolutionist who helped Fidel Castro take over Cuba. His hone doesn't exist anymore, instead there are offices but there's a sign to signify the place.
Rosario is also the hometown of Lionel Messi. For those who don't know him you may have seen me mention him a few times. He's the worlds best footballer and an absolute legend. While in Rosario I visited his dads bar, which was obviously quite pricey, and watched Real Madrid v Barcelona in there, and it was packed out. They all love him there which is good to see.
Rosario is a cool city, I enjoyed visiting the football stadium of the local team, Newells Old Boys, I went out a couple of times and I've finally realised Argentina, and maybe South America as a whole, has a worrying obsession with 80's music, and not so good 80's music at that!
Again the hostel I stayed in was really good. I was made to feel like one of the family and they insisted I try mate, a herbal drink, and fernet, a herbal alcoholic drink. I'm discovering the independent hostels here are great but the chains are not so great, as is proved by my hostel in BA. It's a HI hostel but the previous one I stayed in, in Mendoza wasn't that great either.
I arrived in BA on Sunday and met some friends for drinks, who live here but I met when I was in Santiago. I'm staying in the Palermo area which is cool and feels safe. On my second day I walked round Palermo and bought a hoodie as it's really cold at night, and I lost my last one. Today I ventured to La Boca, the rough end of BA. It wasn't so bad in the end. I saw La Bombanera, the stadium for Boca Juniors, and also Caminito, which is a massive tourist part with real cool coloured buildings. I'm definitely going to head back there next week to buy some souvenirs!!
I didn't realise Easter had already arrived, and as a result all the hostels are fully booked so I'm doing musical hostels over the next few days. I'm moving to another in Palermo tomorrow and then 2 days later I'm moving to one in the centre of BA.
I'm hoping to watch some football matches this weekend. Hopefully I'll see River Plate play at home, and Boca Juniors play away. I'm planning on spending another week and half here, before heading to Iguazu Falls and Brazil at the beginning of May.
It's starting to look like I'll be back home around early to mid October, it feels really weird to think I'll probably home before I know it.
Hopefully Derby will be playing really well by the time I'm back and also I've won the lottery. I can dream I guess... By that I was referring to Derby!
Before I go I just want to wish Wills and Kate good luck for their big day next week, I hear they read my blogs religiously. I hope it all goes well, I'm sorry I can't make it, I'll try and watch it somewhere, but congratulations again and all the best for the future. Maybe I'll take you guys to nandos as a wedding present....
Until next time, take care. Adios

Scrooge Englands got the Lake District for the lakes, Thorntons for chocolates and Pride Park for football. Why go the other side of the world for these??
suki The buses sound real cool with deluxe seats, food, wine and bingo! England should take some tips from South America. The places all sound lovely too. Hey, Total Wipeout is filmed in Buenos Aires. Why don't you see if you can get on it, would be fun x
