The Great Escape
Temperature: 25-30 °C, wind & smelly
Highlights: Reaching Wellington by Ferry across the Cook Strait (channel separating the North from the South Island) we had a quick walk through the museum (NZs biggest museum) and rushed up Mount Victoria for the view. Dinner was lamb - again! Rotorua is New Zealands smelliest city - but only due to the sulphuric smell coming from this amazing thermal area. Although there are only around 20,000 Maori left in NZ (you are considered a Maori when you have 1/16th in your blood), they are encouraging the old traditions, like steaming food underground, bathing rituals, traditional dancing and singing and teaching the language to next generation.
Susanne is now a qualified rafter by overcaming her fear and rafting off the biggest commercial waterfall in the world - sure the pictures will tell.....
Disappointments: Didn't get to see Wellington properly
Thoughts: How do you get the rotten egg smell out of your clothes?
