The Great Escape
Temperature: 30C and Sunny!
Wildlife: Fashionistas, Surf-dudes, and City-folk
Highlights: Fantastic food - great Malaysian hawker stall - in Noosa, nice surf breaks, and a very retro style motel. Backpackers and high society are welcome here. Byron Bay is a wicked little hippy town, with live bands (rapper MCs) and bongos on the beach; this is the mecca for the chilled. Here we discovered the famous Aussie burger, with beetroot and pineapple. Nimbin is located west of Byron Bay, in the midst of the national park. Alcohol is banned in this dusty little town but replaced by super chilled dudes. Surfers Paradise and most of the Gold Coast was a little too urban/commercial for us backpackers haha so we only stopped for a swim and some Sushi. Brisbane is quite something else. It is a fully fledged city (3rd largest), modern, vibrant, well planned with nice outdoor perks, like a lagoon, parks and BBQs and a casino that has live bands and dancing, what a fantastic change to boring London casinos!
Disappointments: Absolutely none..ohhh errghhh..Steve went swimming with his credit card in his shorts. Do sharks take plastic??
Other: So this is what the Aussies talk about when they say Australia is amazing!
Thoughts: Would be a nice place to live.
