The flat lands of northern central Spain have now come to an end. For those that don´t know, the mesetas are flat, flat and flat! It is fantastic to see as far as you possibly can! In the clear air, towns, villages and remote ruins all seem a lot closer than they really are! Being able to see your destination is fantastic, but hard work when it doesn´t seem to come any closer! Today is a day of mercy, relief and medical necessity! And cultural encounters of the medical kind! We have been to four hospitals to find some sort of treatment for my feet! From the way that the Spanish carry on, nobody dares get ill, sick or need medical treatment during the siesta hours! Heaven can only help you if you do! It is day 8 of trekking and a good indication of how it is going is by me having to ask what day we are actually on! We had to write the date today and got it wrong! Our days are concerned with getting up, keeping warm and just keep on walking to the next destination. Whether it is a town, a village, a mountain pass or somewhere just out of the wind.
