Hey all!!!
Well I'm finally here! It was so sad saying goodbye to you all...and if i must admit, i've been missing you all loads!
So to start off with...my plane was an hour late in taking off from Heathrow (so i took off at 5.45pm - Mum my baggage was only 17.4KG!! whoo hoo!)..than it was an 11.5hour journey..I tried to sleep but with the 'The History boys' and the new 'Rocky' movie on, I just couldn't! I managed about 40mins! But the turbulance wasn't helping much at all!
I arrived in Cape town around 6.30am (Tuesday) and got to my hostel at around 8am - I was determined to see the sights so i set off into the local town...I walked for miles! I checked out the beach, wasn't as grand as I thought it was going to be. Was really white sand but a lot of it was rocky...I now know i went to the wrong one in the wrong direction! Than I headed back...I was in my bed at 11am and didn't wake till 10pm! I got up to grab some water met some South African students staying in the hostel whilst doing some work experience in the city than went back to bed...I got up on Wednesday at 7am...so I think i cought up on my sleep Dad!
Wednesday I took my first Rikki! I laughed when I saw it...was so funny! It sounds like a hairdryer on wheels...it's yellow and tiny! can fit about 6people max! I took it to the bottom of Table Top Mountain - didn't think we weregoing to make it at one point!!! This was fantastic! The views were amazing! It was a little windy but still quite hot. I was going to climb up, but when the attendant saw my 'free Glamour magazine' flip flops, she advised I take the cable cart!
I then headed for the V&A Waterfront...it's exactly like Gunwharf in Portsmouth! lots of places to eat (the fish was dame yummy!) and loads of shops - i bought some proper walking sandals! - it's a harbour overlooked by more mountains.
After a well deserved Large cape red wine and two G & T's I headed off for the aquarium...wow! some seriously funky fish here!
I stayed in last night...it's not advisable to go out at night...especially by yourself...so I got chatting with peeps in the hostel..
I'm off to do a peninsula tour tomorrow to see penguin island a few places along the coast and will keep you updated!!
I've got a few red marks...ok I got burnt on top of the mountain..i now have, red feet, red neck, red hands, red arms and red legs only half way from my 3/4 lengths...looks funny if i don't wear something match the patches! And yes Dad, I did wear sunblock! lol!
Love to all!
