Hello all, man I'm chewing up the dosh. I'll be dong a thorough budget after this entry.
So, made my way north into Thailand without any problems(except the bus' aircon was leaking all over everybody for about 7hours and it seems immigration didn't stamp my passport - don't know how that will affect me when I leave). Headed straight to Krabi for a night then over to Ko Phi Phi. It was the Thai New Year water festival - Sokran - so as soon as I got off the ferry everybody from children to adults were their to greet us with water. Once checked in to the hostel - sweet as hostel called the Rock - me and a few others got amoungst it and it was a cool day of water fighting, gang fights, people pissed of at getting wet and general merriment. Ko Phi Phi was really nice. Did a sweet snorkling trip and went to 'The Beach" beach. Definately computer generated on the movie but still real nice - as you'll see if I ever post some photos. Some cool nights out too. Reggae bar has a ring any body can jump into. This Saffa guy, drunk as, jumped in and got cleaned up. Entertaining. Can't forget to mention the buckets. You get a hip flask of local brew whiskey, can of coke, and a red bull. Put it all in a mini bucket and it's a lethal cocktail.
Stayed in Ko Phi Phi for about 5 days then headed over to Ko Phan Ngan for the full moon party. Hung out with the swede's + dutch + yank that I met at the rock and also with some dutch girls I met waiting for the ferry. Rockn bunch of people ready to rock but by about 1hr in everyone had lost eachother. Good night but kinda over-rated. Beautiful girls everywhere but the buckets impeeded my speech and dance moves a little too much.
Moved on to Ko Tao the next day for diving. Had been in contact with NAUI over proof of my open water cert for about a month and they still hadn't been able to send me anything. Called Dive HG, Whangarei where I did the course and they said all the records had left the shop. Told NAUI this and they were suddenly very sorry for the inconvenience and didn't realise my records had been sent to Aus and blah, blah. So the night before I was going to may for a new open water dive cert I got verification and did my advanced. Blazed through it in 2 days - night diving is very cool - and made my way to here - Bangkok.
All in all, southern Thailand is a beautiful place. Hasn't got a feel of being in Thailand though because of all the tourists but well worth the journey. Amazing islands on both coasts could keep you coming back. I'll be back for more diving and relaxing in the future.
