Hey there Everyone!!
I just got back to Melbourne after camping along the Great Ocean road for a week with my friend from Summer Camp, Katrina. We headed off on friday with a car packed full of tents, duvets, pillows, etc and started to make our way along the coast.
The first night we stopped off in a town called Anglesea, where we struggled to put up our 6 man tent and decided to make use of the sites BBQs and had an Aussie BBQ complete with steaks and drinks :)
The next day we joined the Great Ocean road and over the next few days we stopped off at pretty much everywhere you're supposed too, The Twelve apostles, London bridge, blowholes, a petrified forest. We drove through some beautiful landscapes (not all on the coast) and did a tree top walk in the Otways national park too.
When we got to Mount Gambier we drove up to the blue lake, which is basically a lake that has formed in a (hopefully) dormant volcano, and all the limestone has made the water bright blue!!
Before we got to Adleaide we took a detour to the Princess Margret caves. They we discovered about 30years ago by the guy who owned the land. Him and his friends dug them out and made them accessible to the public and they were beautiful!!
By the time we got to adleaide we had perfected our tent putting up skills and felt like pros. Here we met some Canadian girls who were lovely, they had cooked us dinner and given us beer practically before we had sat down. Our campsite was right on the beach so we all headed down for a swim and to watch the sunset over the ocean.
After two nights in Adleaide we started our drive back, this time inland. It took us a couple of days but we did it. before we got back to melbourne we stayed the night in Ballarat, where we went to a 'museum'/theme park called sovereign hills which was all about the australian goldrush. I didnt even know they had a goldrush but there you go!! everyone was dressed in period clothes and the place was set up like it wouldve been back in the day, so that was cool. I even sieved for gold in the stream (i wasnt that lucky, but some nice guy who worked there helped me out and found some for me!)
So I'm back in Melbourne mow and I have some work, at last! Just doing a few shifts a week at a pub/restaruant in an area of Melb called fitzroy. its not much, but its a start! Thats all for now. Will add pictures soon, i took alot!!! Sam Xx
