Hi have had an amazing time in costa rica am really gonna miss this place. It turns out saving turtles is really hard work but its really worthwhile and was lucky enough to see one laying her eggs in the daylight. It involves a lot of dawn and night patrols and one night three of us managed to release 73 hatchlings. Have also been digging a lot of sand in the hot sun to protect the hatchery from the sea, and one time waited 2 hours for a turtle to make it to the sea, which i was sorely tempted to throw!
Been living off rice for 3 meals a day and am absolutely sick of it! Have had lots of good coconut tho and have had plenty of time sitting in hammocks and lying on the beach. Managed not to get eaten by any crocs but did see 10 pairs of eyes one night when we shone the torch on the river upstream. The local town is really great too and have been going down, getting pizzas and surfing with the locals
the surf here has been amazing and have caught some really great waves that i´ll never forget, as well as one horrendous wipout, am sure the two fishermen on the beach found amazingly funny to watch me get pasted by four waves each the size and weight of my house..at least it felt like that! also went to a local party last night which rocked, the live music was amzing especially the cover of no woman no cry. The group ive been with have been so great and have had such a good laugh.
am off to peru next with tommy k and am just about to get my flights, cant wait! tho i wont miss the cold showers, loud monkeys or the rice at all
