Good morning!! So yesterday we left the grand canyon and headed to monument valley! We stopped in John Wayne's trailer which they have turned into a museum, we saw some props from back to future 3 which was filmed there also more recently a johnny depp western which they filmed last month. The Navajo tribe live and own monument valley so we got a local guide called ira who is a Grammy nominated native american singer, you wouldn't know looking at the state of his car! Anyways we were on this open top jeep/pick up which was very bumpy but very fun! After a tour of the valley and the navajo sacred sites we went to our base camp in the valley and ate traditional Navajo tacos which were like a fried naan with beans tomatoes onions lettuce and a steak on top - very nice!
After that we watched native American dancing and singing which we had to join in! Then we camped in the valley, we watched a thunder storm and thousands of stars! Then had to get up for sunrise which was cool.
I'm on the bus now, got a long driving day ahead today, first going to the 4 corners (you're in 4 states at once) and then on to Santa fe new mexico for some Mexican food and overnight stop on the way to Roswell :).
Anyways take care
