Well we have been busy bees so havent had time to update our blog, but we have set out some time now to update you.
Well we managed to get on the free bus tour around Auckland which was really good, especially as it was free. We went to the bridge and walked under/over it- we walked under the bit where all the cars go. We had to where a harness and attach to a bridge and watch people bungy, which was good, but not something we wanted to do.
then we just went round some of the sites of Auckland and sat in a park for a bit and planned our travels for Newzealand.
The next day we got up and started our journey on the Kiwi Expereince- WOOO! everyone seemed really nice, We got on the bus and went to a lovely beach- Cathedral Cove, it was a 30 min Walk to and from the beach, but well worth it, it was sucluded. Me and Tess were even brave enough to jump off a rock in the middle of the sea- (just the start of our adventures).
We then found ourselves in a lovely little hostel in Mercury bay, they cooked us a home cooked meal of spag bol, which was really nice (so dont worry we are eating well).
the next morning was another early start to get on the Kiwi bus (not what we were expecting from the trip), we headed to Rotouro, with a stop along the way through some mining caves and over some bridges that only allowed 10 people at a time and were swaying alot.( a bit scary) we arrived in Rotouro which was a bit smelly as they have geothermal plates and steam coming up throught the streets. The hostel we stayed in was a bit grottier than usual but had a pool so we went for a Swim.
That evening we went to a Maori (local people) concert/meal, this was very different but good. they demonstarted things from their culture and history. Which included dancing, singing and replicating one of their villages. Also showing us the Hacker- (the rugby dance) Then we had a meal which was cooked under the ground in the steaming rocks- yet again another big and good meal. ( we were both stuffed). We had a crazy bus driver their back, he could say hello, how are you in 58 different languages, then on the way back he drove the bus around a roundabout 6 times.
The next day was a bit of a downer day- we stopped to go to an attraction which we thought was free and it wasnt, it was something that we didnt reallly want to pay for so we skipped it, started to get a bit annoyed with the Kiwi Expereicne- as everything seems to cost so much- so we just walked around for a bit in the rain. (But you will all be glad to know taht we are over that now)
our next hostel was amazing- it was in a very small town with nothing their- waitamo- we stayed in mini challets with an upstairs and no bunk beds- wooo.
The next day (02-02-0 was our most adventures. first of all we got up and went black water rafting in caves to see glow worms- (check out the link http://www.waitomo.com/caving-adventure.aspx this was very scary for me and tess as i dont like small spaces and water and tess doesnt like water and dark. but it was really good- glad we did it.
Our next adventure was in Taupo- where we did a SKY DIVE- Which was amazing- something that i hadnt given much thought but Tess really wanted to do- so I tagged along- cnat belive we did it. dont worry guys we got photos and a DVD so you will all see it when we get home.
Will keep in touch xxxxx
