The Melbourne Cup - it 'stops the nation' - Victoria (Melbourne's state) actually has a public holiday for it! It's the equivalent of the Grand National without the hedges. We went to work, but spent 2hrs dining at a pub and then went to the office where a projector screen showed The Race whilst we sipped champagne and scones. I felt underdressed - everyone had worn posh frocks! Us Brits hung out in the corner... near the champagne source...
