Anna Bay, New South Wales Feb 25, 2012 These pictures don't do our ride justice. There is no perception of depth at all. It was very hard to judge height and distances. For instance this was one of the highest dunes here and we drove right over the top. Wheeeee!!!!!!
Anna Bay, New South Wales Feb 25, 2012 The dunes are about 32 kilometres long and at places are 4 1/2 kilometres wide and the dunes reach several hundred meters. We travelled the whole length and breath of the dunes. What an adventure: I've never in my life seen anything in my life like this. And we had our own private tour guide.
Anna Bay, New South Wales Feb 25, 2012 There stone triangles line a large part of the beach. They are tank stoppers. They were made in 1942 during the war to prevent a Japanese invasion along the beach. Apparently they stretched for 32 kilometres along the beach front. You can see the date and lot number inscribed in them. If you look closely you can see people riding camels in the background.
