Two flights and 14 hours later.
And I've landed.
My buddy Simon picked me up with his girlfriend Rachel at Richmond airport. We drove to Orange where Simon's parents live. My head hit the pillow and I was out like a light.
This morning I woke up to the most beautiful sight; wide open fields, woodland everywhere, Hay rolls bathing in the fields ready to be picked up, flowers dotted around here, there and everywhere and the bluest sky I've probably ever seen. I would upload the photos but alas I stupidly forgot my USB cable for my camera. Lame. So no photos till I buy another.
Simon's parents live in a quaint and gorgeous white wooden house plucked straight out of an episode from The Little House on the Prarie. Its so sweet and encompased by aches of lushious green land.
Today we set off to explore the surrounding history that was on offer.
Virginia is histroically, an incredibly important state. Two of the first ever presidents lived here, but who am I to lecture? My knowlegde of American history is pathetic, if not verging on diabolical, but it's never too late to start learning!
First off we visited Montpelier, the home of James Madison, the 4th president of the United States and the creator of the Constitution. What a dude. tiny, but still without doubt, a dude.
We then drove back to Simon's for a spot of lunch and drove back out to visit Montcello, the house and grounds of Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the Unites States.
We looked around the house with a guided tour and explored the garden and grounds where a huge vegetable patch was been grown, was awesome!
To finish the day off we went to meet Rachel for pizza and drove to the cinema to see non other then Harry Potter 6. AMAZING.
Truely a 10* day. History and Harry Potter, what more could one ask for.
Anyhoo, I really gotta get to bed, Im pooped. Jet lag hasnt really caught me this time, but I'm fading fast.
Oh yeah and the picture i've chosen is the White House as im visiting D.C tomorrow, but as I cant upload any photos.....I'm limited to choice.
