Well its Monday and through the good graces of my friends Dave and Jodi Vigeant, I am going to have a decent place to stay and a rental car until my vehicle gets fixed. Will let you know how the evening goes. I hope to get some nice pictures of sunset here in the mountains.

A friend donated some of their Marriott reward points to give me a place to stay tonight. So I am back at the Marriott Fairfield Estates for another night. If I can arrange to get a car rental tomorrow, I will be able to stay at a campground for the rest of the week.

Having a beautiful ride through the mountains and then decided it was time to go up Pikes Peak. Paid my $12 and on I went. ANOTHER hair raising segment along the length of Kansas. I found a way to deal with the boredom that many people say is classic when traveling the length of this state. I rode between 85-90 mpg the entire way. That is, except for the part where a semi-tractpr trailer jacknifed on I-70 West and hit a bridge and exploded into flames. Arrived in Toopeka kansas in the middle of my THIRD major thunderstomr of the day. It was as scary as it has ever gotten for me. New England has nothing on these midwest storms. The lightening crashing all around you constantly, and the thunder is in your chest. It is deafening and I thought for sure that this was one ride I might not survive. However it was great to settle in for the night at the Marriott.
