Yassoo, Hi all, we've arrived on Crete after a 7 hour sail, not too bumpy, I can be a real ships's rat here..Ha ha. Whilst arriving in Kissimos-Kastelli we noticed that there were 5 cabs at the dock, 70 people on the boat & no bus. ....Time to befriend the english couple we'd met earlier on deck who had a motorhome!, plied them with interesting detals of Cretan literature so they felt quite obliged to give us a lift into town which is 3kms from the port! Afte...

...Next day we all decided to walk to a shipwreck we\'d see back along the coast (Well, M & L walked, I only have little legs so sat on top of M\'s day pack) This was one of those walks where the object is always \'just around the next headland\'....5 headlands and 5kms later we arrived footsore at the wreck on the \'Dimitrios\'. This was a russian skippered cargo ship taking oranges (Portokalia) from Githio to Russia, it seems the skipper had an enviable vodka ...

....this place is quite amazing, after crossing a causeway to a huge Gibraltar-style rock you walk through a very narrow dog-leg tunnel just big enough to squeeze a donkey through (will I ever write that again in my life?) then you pop out into the sun...and a hidden town of narrow cobbled streets with jumbled houses, shops and kafenions etc. Everything comes in & out by hand, wheelbarrow or donkey, even stuff for rebuilding houses!
