I arrived into Vegas on Monday lunchtime and it was just the same as I remember. Except last time it was over 100 degrees and you couldn't go outside, and today it was cold and grey and much more depressing in the clouds!
I stayed at the Excaliber, which is the big castle near the end of the strip. In the afternoon I had a walk down the strip and went in some shops etc. and then for dinner. I had a little flutter and took advantage of my free drinks tokens in the bar and watched people gamble away their life savings. I then ventured out to see the Strip at night in all its neon glory, but it was pouring down! I stood and watched the Belagio fountains, which really is fantastic. I know it's only water and music, but it still made me shriek with girlish glee! And then I went back to indulge my addiction of the Big Bang Theory and being able to watch Friends on TV again!
The next morning I was brave and went for a swim in the 'heated' outdoor pool. It was actually warmer outside than it was in the pool! I then felt my burst of excercise should be rewarded, so I headed to Macdonalds for breakfast. After that I went for a very long walk through all the casinos, getting lost several times in the maze of shops and gamblers and drinkers. The place can be kinda fun if you're just passing through and take it for what it is.
That evening I went to see The Kooks play in the House of Blues in Madalay Bay. I'd been walking past the day before and saw they were playing! They were really good and the place was packed. Unfortunately not many people know them in America, so everyone was just kinda standing there watching as I was jumped about and sang like an idiot!
The next morning I checked out, got some lunch and said goodbye to the desert sunshine as I headed up to Springdale and Zion Canyon.
