Incredible palce, for many reasons. Part of the Death railway constructed by the Japs in WWII to connect Bangkok and Burma, they used over 60000 Allied POWs to construct (more than 16000 died). This cutting is only 100m or so long, but is the symbol of the struggle of these guys in the war. Very moving...
