I don't know why the map doesn't make sense. The website does it automatically. It should go simply east from Rotterdam then south through Germany and France into Switzerland.

Last night we found a nice bar for a beer. Then had a soak in the bath (our first room with a bath!), before going out for a good pizza and some less good Chianti. Finished off the evening in an Irish bar. The Irish bar that didn't do stout, was lacking in any Irish people but, nevertheless, had a good atmosphere. We watched as some of the locals did shots.
After such a short day yesterday, we needed to set off early. We were on the road by 8am. It was rather chilly to start with, but soon brightened up.
Switzerland is a great place to cycle. Today, for us, was particularly good as a good tailwind helped us whizz around the lakes (Bieler See and Lac de Neuchâtel). We felt good and kept up a good pace for, what turned out to be, a decent stage of some 90mls. We finished up for the day at a place called Yverdon-les/Bains. Neither of us had ever heard of it (the only way you'd come to places you'd never heard of is to not plan to go there in he first place. If you see what I mean).
We got to the first lake just on time for lunch No.1. As we were looking for somewhere to sit I happened to streak to a group of cyclists: two Austrian and two Swiss (French speaking). I mentioned that I was looking for a place for 'Le picnic' and one of them said to follow him to the best place to picnic. He took us to a place with a seat which had a stunning view over Lake Biel.
We looked for a place to stay in Estavayer-le-Lac but there was nowhere to stay. So we pressed on to where'd we are now at Yverdon-les-Bains. Nice place with good views out over the lake.
I think the Swiss made a good move by staying out of the euro. The country seems so prosperous and monied. The strong Swiss Frank makes it expensive for us foreigners though. The cheapest McD's Big Mac is CHF11.70 (about £7.50). Bottles of wine in restaurants start at about £50. Petrol's about the same though. I do like the big chunky coins though. In particular the 5 and the two Swiss Franc coins. They are heavy and make a nice chunk sound as you count them out.
We came through one town today where Breitling, Omega and Rolex had big production sites. The was an Omega Museum too. We'd liked to have stopped to look around: but we didn't have the time.
Looking forward to getting to Lake Geneva...
