Hello friends.
Currently we are in Kuala Lumpur. Since our last blog we have done many things and been many places. In the end we did do the bungee jump (the secon largest in the world at 160m tall) as well as water rafting. Both were great fun and the bungy would have been an adrenaline rush for anyone. Dont know if i would do another one though, standing on a bridge 160m above a river was not a very pleasant experience. Neither was having my wallet stolen a few nights later.
After the bungee, we spent a few more days in Kathmandu, before departing to Bangkok, via Dhakka,Bangladesh for a night (the way the flight worked out) at this time it was only us two on this flight as everyone else mangaged to get themselves better flights or were back on the bus. Our night in Dhakka involved spending 2 hours at the airport waiting for a visa to be issued for our one night stay..$20 dollars.and then spending the night in the hotel as it was supposedly to dangerous to go out. To add to our Bangladeshi experience we were infested with cockcroaches in our room and under our bed. Even after having the room fumigated twice there still were cockcroaches roaming around. We had to just get over it in the end as there were no alternative rooms to stay in.
The next day however we were on a flight to Bangkok, that is after a 6 hour delay. In bangkok we stayed right in the toursit part, near Khosan Road. The ozbus was now in Bangkok so we were able to meet up with everyone for a short while. The bus then left down to Koh samui with the majority of people on it for a change, including mike. However i hung back in Bangkok to wait for my bank cards to be sent out, which proved to be much more hassle than it should of been, as some of you will already know. During my time in Bangkok, i met and hung about with some Canadians and Dutch guys. We went for a day sightseeing by rickshaw, which took us to the Gold Mount overlooking the whole city, a few temples and then a boat trip up the river. The driver insisted we also visit a few tailors (1, because he gets commision and free petrol and 2 maybe because of how shabby we all looked) all the same we were forced into 3 tailors, yet came away looking just as shabby and even worse for petrol.
I left Bangkok and caught a flight down to Koh Samui with my new duch friend, we then spent the night on a beach been taught french politics by a few young french guys. we caught a boat across from koh Samui to Koh Phagnan the next morning. We parted ways at the port as i went to find the rest of the guys from the bus, and mike of course. (while i was away the bus went to Koh Samui for a few days and the as usual 10 or so people jumped off and headed to Koh Phagnan)
We decided to go to Koh Phagnan because the world famous full moon party ( a party every full moon on the beach, basically an all night beach rave) was approaching and so we thought it a good idea to catch it now. it was held on the 24th/25th. it was another great experience and activity we have done on this "crazy adventure", we drank and "danced" from 8pm to 8am, into the daylight hours.
We stayed on for a few more nights in Koh Phagnan before heading down to Koh Tao.this boat ride however resulted in half the boat being sick (including mike, who had his head in a bucket all journey) after the worst boat ride ever we reached Koh Tao, this is a smaller more relaxed island norh of Koh Phagnan, for a few nights there we stayed at the famous Mr J's and did not much else, sunbathed and chilled out. We did of course have a game of mini golf, which never really got very competitive as we were all so bad, all the same it was very amusing. From Koh Tao we took a boat back to Koh Samui. From Koh Samui we caught a flight to Kuala Lumpur. Where we have now ended up.
Today we went to see the Twin Towers, and then went up the Kuala Lumpur Tower (260m high) and caught a spectacular view of the city. Over the next few days we are flying down to Bali, there for a few days, were we will finally stay with bus. The ozbus hen has our flight booked to Darwin from Bali. We then make our 2 week journey threw Australia
Hopefully you can understand what we have been doing. will try to keep you as updated as possible.
Cheers, Alec.
