Hi,
Just a quick update from Isla Mujeres, where we´ve stayed the last couple of nights. Its an island which is 20minutes by boat from Cancun, and it is such a nice Caribbean island. The weather seems to be improving, and the water is gorgeous turquoise here. We´ve stayed at a place called Poc Na hostel which overlooks the sea, and for our private room including breakfast is 5 pounds per person, so its brilliant value. Overall we´ve been pleasantly suprised by the cost of living, and once we start getting further into central america, we think we´ll easily get by on 10-15 pounds a day!
We hired a golf buggy yesterday to go round the island which takes about an hour or so in total, and went to visit the local sea turtle sanctuary, which was cute! There was also a few sharks which were cool, but scary. We´ve met more people here than at the hostel in mexico city, and have met quite alot of cool people and had a nice night in the bar and then the hostel´s beach bar. The cocktails here are ridiculously strong and only cost a pound, and beers are 50p roughly. Not suprisingly felt a tad rough yesterday!
Today we´re taking a 3 hour bus ride from Cancun to a place called Tulum where there are some Mayan ruins right on some amazing beaches, and plan to stay at a b and b for 2 nights, where you get free use of their bikes, which will be fun (and cheap) way to see the place. From there we´re just going to head down to the border of Belize and onto the Cayes, which are some Caribbean island off Belize.
We´ll post some photos soon and keep you updated so keep checking!
Lots of Love, Rose and Mike.xx
