Hi all Gosh, time just flies when you are on tour. We have no time to update our blogs properly - so apologies. We are back in Oz and straight onto another tour taking in Canberra (saw little Jonny Howard in action at PMQs), got a chair lift to Oz's highest mountain, Melbourne (not raining this time!) and soon Adelaide where I can meet up with Nick. Hello I've uploaded some photos in the folder Aotearoa Antics. Aotearoa is the Maori name for New Zealand, meaning roughly "Land of the Long White Cloud" We are currently in Christchurch and about to start our tour of the south Island. We arrived in new Zealand last Thursday after being a little sad to leave Melbourne and arrived in Auckland to stay in a very central hotel near the harbour. We had a few days free before our tour so spent that having a look around and sampling the nightlife. Melbourne is fabulous – a really lovely city. Lots of beautiful cityscape, where old and modern sits nicely side by side. The quaint trams and little alleys with coffee shops give it a more European feel than Sydney and the locals are friendly. Phil and I have mingled – Phil more than me ;-) We even ended up with a dinner invitation which we took up last night and enjoyed a lovely meal and company in a very swish 12th Floor apartment in the city centr...

I met Phil on Thursday 18th Jan at Sydney airport. Many thanks to Kristy and Adam for putting me up for a few days. I taught their 18 month old son how to say “Cool” and do a thumbs up. Well almost. He now sticks his index finger up at people and says “Tool!”. I left before I could more damage. Before arriving in Melbourne I had heard about bushfires and heatwaves.
