DAY EIGHTEEN
Well, another exciting entry.. today we caught a bus to Phnom Penh in Cambodia.
All I would say, is that for anyone interested in visiting this part of the world, be prepared for a complete lack of organisation at the borders. If you are aware and prepared, you will be okay. Go with a reputable company, and ensure you pay 25 dollars U.S only for your visa ( make sure you have a passport photo). Luckily, we were given good advice from a few different sources, so we made it through possibly the least hassled ( a 4 hour journey still took 7! Ha ha), but there were people there being conned ( paying upwards of 50 dollars), people having been there for hours and hours not knowing what was going on, and there is also a lot of pushing, yelling etc. The sun was shining on us that day......
Phnom Penh Is a bizarre place, considering what happened in the not too distant past, the people are friendly and happy, and the city itself seems clean, picturesque and reasonably modern. Jasmin was told off for standing on the steps of the Independence monument by an army officer, but we still got the picture!
Another great feast and a couple of drinks at the famous Cambodian bar, Paddy Rice ( an Irish bar, because there has to be an Irish bar in every single country, it's part of the NATO peace agreement!)
So, this is short and sweet as b***** all happened!
