World Trip 2005-06
Salvador (24-27th April)
It's the most African influenced city in Brazil and smacks of culture. During are stay in the city we situated ourselves in Pelourinho. The area was full of small narrow cobbled streets and boasted loads of churches. Armed police stood on every street corner due a history of muggings in the area. However during our stay we didn't witness anything bad, we roamed the streets only to be bothered by beggars and the occasional dude trying to sell us a wristband. These Brazilians sure love their wristbands. We had to buy some of one guy though, after he performed a Brazilian style rap for us. Pretty impressive. At night we sat back in the street bars and watched the street dancing that took place. The music here has a great energy to it, some impressive dance moves thrown around.
