Hola Chicos,
So we got to BA in the morning an dgot a free taxi to a Hostel called Tango City (which rocked). Buenos Aires is one of the most beautiful cities ever! It's so European, chic, hip and kicking. You walk down the really narrow roads being towered by 18th/19th century crumbling buildings and you could be mistaken for being in Rome, Paris or London. The main attraction to BA for backpackers is the nightlife. It's really like nothing we've experienced. If you go out at 11pm or 12am then it's considered really early. You go out about 12.30am/1am, hit a club then go back to a house party of back to the hostel and get to bed around 6am-8am!! Took some getting used to but seemed a much better way to party. As well as the partying we made sure we had time to visit the tourist side of the city. We went to the zoo, loads of museums, art galleries, street markets and the world famous La Recoleta cemetery. This isn't just any old cemetery, it's like a mini city. Only the rich and famous can be buried here (due to the cost) and they all have towering monuments which members of the family are bury. The place has a grid system design with tree lined streets. The idea is to celebrate death so you can see most of the coffins if you look into the monuments. There are some that are really run down so the coffins are poking out and you can reach and touch them (if you wanted)!! There are some monuments that are like massive filing draws and some of the doors are broken so the coffins are poking out all over the place. As we were in the home of Tango we decided to see a top Tango show. It involved going to a really old bare brick building, sitting in a really classy bar with a sax player and then being led upto the show room. We had a 3 course dinner with all the wine you could drink while the tango show was going on. There was a 5 piece band which were amazing it was a brilliant show and the dancers were fantasic. it was so nice to see a proper Tango show. Buenos Aires is an amzing City full of cultre and beauty. We went to the Zoo as well it was so cool there we so many animals it was great But I (lee) was scared to feed a Camel and Rob found this very funny as children next to us were feeding them... I think that is about it really. We then decided to go to a place Called Salta, so once again on the Bus for another long journey this one was 22 hours and it was not fun at all but we did it and got to Salta.
