It seems like a long way from the Khao San Road. It actually kinda was. Our last scene in Bangkok involved being whizzed off to a world class tailor an hour before our bus to the East Coast. In an extraordinary shop with walls lined with all sorts of fabrics we were treated like Arab kings as our hosts flung different fabrics over our shoulders, talked about seams, stitches and pockets all the while sticking a tape measure at funny angles and saying exhasperated, "Sir please just relax." Then with our real world attire on order it was onto our bus and 12 hours across the country overnight. Not the most comfortable journey of the trip, especially when you are thrown off the bust at 6 am and made wait by the side of the road for 2 hours, then transferred like sardines into an old school bus and shepherded another hour up the coast. Still we finally made it to the Gulf of Thailand.
Ko PhanYang is world famous for it's parties, so it was only right to experience the local culture. I'm sure photos will speak for themselves but anyone who has been will know the kind of place!
Then onwards to Ko Tao where we fell into the first dive centre, found a bed and only rose at 12 the next day. It's definitely a different buzz here, a little more chilled out. Diving and a few beers. It's good craic and while the diving isn't mind-blowing it's a good wind-down from last week's antics. There's three days left here and then it's onwards (somehow) to Laos.
Photos of Thailand are ready but it takes a good hour to upload them so it might be a few days! Stay tuned!
