I ran into the Queen this morning whilst she was on her way to open a new session of parliament. Being a first-timer to London I was somewhat amazed (and impressed) by the amount of work that goes into a 10-minute coach ride to Westminster Palace. And how much access the general public have to the journey. They close off (to traffic) an area the size of Sydney's CBD with temporary fencing along the entire route. Thousands upon thousands of tourists and locals line the streets to watch her go by - slowly - in the famous Aussie built horse drawn carriage. There are Metrolpolitan Police everywhere - spaced every 10 metres or so - on both sides of the street. All happy. All smiling. All happy to have a chat. Just another day at the office. There are equal numbers of Queen's Guard soldiers too. A little less chatty though. A great experience.

Paul Nice timing Rob. I lived in the U.K. for 13 years and never saw the Queen. You go on a whimsical holiday and see her on your first visit. I hope that you are having a swell time.
