Not long off the overnight train from Chiang Mai to Bangkok. Usually 14hrs but we had a 4hr delay. Good times!
We got a decent sleep but toilet breaks were few and far between because of the stench that the toilets produced. Basically the toilets were a hole in the ground through a thin pipe. It didn't appear that the Thai train staff put toilet cleaning stuff down them. We got to Bangkok at 11am and a taxi to the hotel.
The northern part of our tour has finished. Our tour group leader who won't tour us around the south lent us her room for a quick shower before we went to the Grand Palace and the Emerald Buddha temple with the group for the last trip together. Back to the hotel we went around 3pm to meet the new tour leader and the rest of the group.
Yesterday before we checked out of our hotel we took a quick 20 min Songthaew to the White Temple. I will put a picture up of this famous transportation in the next post. The white temple is a beautiful new contemporary temple built by a famous architect in Thailand. Built about 15 years ago and recently opened to the public from my understanding.
We experienced the impressive Grand Palace where the king was coronated 65 years ago, also the Jade Buddha temple. The jade buddha is thought to be 600 years old and the Thai's believe Laos originally stole it from them so the Thai's 'stole' it back.
Tonight we are heading on another train down south before hopping on a ferry to Koh Samui.
