Buenas!
So after leaving our 3rd family behind, we headed for the jungle island of Ometepe. Our first days were spent swimming in the "officially" clean waters of Charco Verde, and hiking through rain forest in search of better views of the volcano. During the evening we were consistently visited by a mysterious creature, who left presents on the bed sheets (bright yellow), while trying to break in to our medical bag. Rumours of a junkie bat are yet to hit the papers. Next stop we stayed in a mountain hippie commune. Here the events of the day were recycling, and eating homemade tahini butter, and discussing why the world "just doesnt get it man". We also witnessed a midnight rave supplied by the best sounding frogs of all time. One night was enough though and we hitch hiked to the next town of Santa Domingo for rum sipping in hammocks on the beach, much more our style. During a hike to the local water hole we also managed to catch the attention of the largest bull known to man kind. Despite being held back by two men on horseback it managed to charge us while Lou was inocently trying to take its photo. Luckily the bull gave up after we heroicly dived into the nearest available bush. Our last stop on the island was Monkey island, where we searched for the elusive fresh water shark. Instead we found monkeys and a strange antenna that would raise randomly from the depths. Although not a shark it was still enough to ensure rob swam alone.
San Juan Del Sur was to be our last week in nicaragua. And it was awesome. The beaches were amazing with clear blue water, and constant wave bashing to keep us amused, and louise checking she still had her bikini. We managed to secure a room with a view of the amazing pacific sunsets, enjoyed from our balcony. Swept up by the surfer lifestyle, rob got his head shaved while louise made friends with local old boys who needed to discuss the current state of bikinis, and the candidates of miss nicaragua. The festival maria took place but we literally missed the boat, and watched from the shores, while the town took their local statue of Mary for a two hour boat ride out to sea.
Reluctant to leave we packed up our bags and headed for costa rica
Lots of love Rob and Lou
