So with an absolutely amazing sleep under our belts for the first time in 4 days following the Inca Trail we thought we´d treat ourselves so had an awesome breakfast at Jacks and a full body massage! The massage place was all a little seedy but you cant complain for 4 quid really! As I said before we went on the Inca Trail we planned to do the cultural side of Cusco on our return but this didn´t really materialise!! We went out on the Tuesday night with some guys we met on the Inca Trail and a few others from the hostel, same routine of free drink then move on and again had a brilliant night. Needless to say the next day we were inactive, after attempting to watch the first half of the England game in an Irish pub I had to retreat back to the comforts of the hostel TV area for the second half. We also found two girls from our uni Nic and Alice were not only staying in our hostel but in our dorm, all very strange seeing as we didnt have a clue they´d be in Cusco. There was a major Christain festival in full swing so the next day we had a potter around town which still wasnt getting boring and looked into buses out for the next day, to Tacna. To our horror we found out that this was the start of a major protest/blockade/strike but we were determined to leave (and lucky we did as people are still stuck in Cusco now and others are unable to get in!!!). So again having seen two familiar faces we thought it only right we show them the ropes on a night out in Cusco before we depart!! Next day we were unable to get a direct bus to Tacna due to the protests we had been told a bus had been flipped previously so there was a real threat that it could happen again, when Peruivians strike/protest they really bloody mena business! So we had to reroute to Arequipa then hope to catch a connecting bus to Tacna then eventually into Arica where we had organised to meet Jason and the guys he was travelling with. This turned out to be the most unforgiving bus ride yet 10hrs of discomfort!! The connection was pretty smooth all the way along and we took a very strange taxi/bus thing which somehow managed to squueze six of us in across the border and into Chile. Again we were lucky as a strike was due to start in Tacna the very next day so a border crossing would have proved alot more difficult!!
